FAQsOne of the most important decisions you can make to ensure the success of your event, is selecting the DJ. Everything else can be perfect, but if the entertainment and music isn't good, your party will most likely die out early. It's also the one thing that people remember the most. They may not remember the flowers, the cake or the party favors, but they'll certainly remember if they had a good time. While the meals you serve your guests may cost $35-$100 per person, the cost per person for entertainment will only run a few dollars per person. With an estimated 75,000 mobile DJs in the US, choosing a DJ can be confusing. So why is Medleys In Motion the right company for you? We are committed to treating you like you are part of our family. You won't find us running ads in phone books or taking out ads in newspapers to get business. The internet is the only "advertising" presence we have. All of our business comes to us through referrals from past clients, banquet hall referrals or from individuals who have seen us at prior events and know the type of quality entertainment we provide to each and every customer. Below are a few simple questions and answers we felt you may find valuable as you consider hiring us for your event. Do you provide a written contract?Yes, all events require a written contract signed by Medleys In Motion and the client. The contract is only binding when signed and returned with a deposit. Do you carry insurance?YES! What is the DJ's level of professionalism? We have been in the business for over seven years and pride ourselves on being a professional and courteous disc jockey service. 90% of the time your event will be the only event we have scheduled in your time slot. The maximum number of events we will do at the same time is two. Many companies in the Chicagoland area have five or more events taking place at the same time. We truly believe that all of our energy and focus should be directed to our client and therefore limit the number of events we schedule at any given time. Although it would be nice to have five or more events every night, we do not feel you receive the same quality serve and can often times find yourself lost in the shuffle. How will the DJ be dressed for my event?Your DJ('s) will ALWAYS be clean-cut and dressed appropriately for your event. Attire is typically a blue button-down Medleys In Motion dress shirt and black dress pants. If different attire is desired, please let us know. Do you have experience with the type of function I am having?Whether your party is for backyard barbeque for 25, a wedding for 300 or a corporate event for 1000, Medleys In Motion has the equipment and the ability to handle them all! Do you offer a written schedule of events? For weddings, we do require a reception information form be completed two weeks prior to the event. For all other events, it is helpful if the client provides us with a brief schedule of events via phone or E-mail two weeks prior as well. This allows us ample time to plan for the event and ask any follow-up questions. Do you provide a music list and take requests? Our "partial" music list is available on-line (click here). You are welcome to print the list off and highlight the songs you would like played and return two weeks prior to your event. If there are certain songs you do not want played during the night, it is important that you let us know. We currently have over 10,000 songs all on compact disc, but because of the space and size a list like this would take up we do not have a listing of our entire collection to send out as it does get updated and changed weekly. We will make announcements throughout the night asking your guests for requests. As long as the music is appropriate for the crowd and not on your "do not play list" we are happy to take and play requests. Do you use professional sound equipment? Our sound system is the latest in audio technology consisting of Mackie individually powered speakers along with Yamaha and Cerwin Vega speakers for smaller events. Our dual anti-skip CD players are made by American DJ and Gemini and our mixing boards are made by Numark. Our lighting effects are also made by American DJ. Our equipment continues to be updated and replaced on regular basis and looks and functions as well as it did the day we took it out of the box. What if something goes wrong? Do you have backup equipment? If a problem occurs with our equipment and not as a result of the power supply from the banquet hall or other venue, we do have back-up equipment so your guests will never notice a problem. In 11-years, we are proud to say we have NEVER used our back-up equipment, but it is piece of mind for yourself and us to have it on site. Do you have references or performance evaluation forms from past events? Thanks you letters and other comments are available to view on this site. What do you charge for an event? To obtain pricing information and discuss your event further, please complete the information request form or contact us today. Prices do vary slightly depending on the location, time, day and size. How far are you willing to travel for an event? We work throughout the Chicagoland area on a weekly basis and often times have events in the Kenosha/Racine Wisconsin area as well. We also do events outside the area and have traveled as far as Minneapolis, Iowa City and Michigan for weddings. Do we feed the DJ('s) during the event?Since we are setting up at your event at least 30 minutes prior to your arrival and sometimes spending six or seven hours at the event, our contract does include meals for us. Sometimes, we are placed at a table reserved for the DJ's and photographer to eat but most of the time we are sitting at a table with your guests which gives us the opportunity to get to know some of the people at your event and better prepare for the dancing portion of the night. Do I tip my DJ at the end of the night and what is a "normal" amount? The event went just as planned and everyone danced the night away! To us, that is satisfaction enough. If you feel your DJ's went above and beyond the call of duty and helped make your party a huge success, tipping is greatly appreciated. Normally, tips range between $50-$100. Tips are NEVER expected! |
